It’s been a good week of book reviews!
I would like to say a really big ‘Thank You‘ to Sallie Bale (Marketing Strategist and consultant, President of Bloom Scotland, Heritage Marketing Specialist) and, secondly, another big thanks to Paul Carter (FCIPD), Creative Writer and HR Business Partner at UK Civil Service for their honest and frank reviews of Brand Momentum.
1. Sallie Bale
Sallie Bale’s review of Brand Momentum highlights its fresh take on brand strategy, emphasising perception over mere growth.
Sallie’s post suggests that momentum is as crucial as actual success, a stance that contrasts with traditional metrics. She also indicates that the book provides practical steps for measuring brand momentum and recommends it as a valuable tool for marketers focused on brand vitality and consumer perception.
Her review is well worth the read. It’s very detailed and thorough and takes a balanced view. I’m really grateful for her feedback and suggestions—they are duly noted and will appear in a 2nd edition, as requested!
Here’s a couple of quotes from Sallie.
“If you’re a brand strategist or marketer looking for new metrics to consider in your boardroom discussions,
I’d highly recommend giving this book a read.”
“This perception of vitality, as Lewis explains, is crucial for maintaining consumer trust and engagement. It adds a different dimension to the concept of “mental availability” that Byron Sharp advocates, shifting the focus from merely being available to appearing dynamic and forward-moving.”

2. Paul Carter
Paul Carter provides another thought-provoking review of the book. I’m not sure he liked the book cover – but I’m so glad he warmed to what was inside!
Perhaps Paul’s most telling comment was…
“I commend Lewis’s research which adds context and topicality to his professional insights.
But this is not an academic essay for a marketing degree, it is his way of sharing his expertise.
He is a man who knows his stuff and is not attempting to masquerade as a journalist cum author with the Financial Times and the Economist on his CV. It is a book about marketing for marketers who need to prepare presentations and influence senior leaders.”
Thanks again Paul – I hear what you say and have taken your great comments on board. Taking time to review a book and provide meaningful feedback is so appreciated and I hope your followers appreciate it!
